Love at First Sight

Recently Dana and I traveled to Brisbane for a long over-due visit with family. Dana’s big brother Jaden, and his wife Jenna (my brother and sister in law) just had their first baby.

Estelle.

From the moment Dana first met her, it was love at first sight. And I’m pretty sure he didn’t put her down for the whole time we were with her.

It’s so lovely to see how beautiful and tender he is with children. He’s going to make a pretty neat father one day. (But not yet. Don’t get any ideas.)

So we stayed with Dana’s mum, step-father, brother, sister-in-law, and niece. Being around these people just feels so good.

This is Samuel. He is my nephew. He tried roller skating for the very first time at his big brother Nicholas’ birthday party.

I’ve never seen a person fall over as many times in a row as he did. Honestly, it was worse than the result of strapping a hotwheels car to each of a newborn giraffe’s hooves (not that I have actually ever tried doing that).

What gets me, is the fact that although he was frustrated as all heck that he kept thudding onto the hard floor on his tailbone, he still maintained a quiet giggle throughout the whole ordeal.

Geez – if it were me, and I fell over even once, I can assure you there would be tears. And lots of them.

Hoorah for raising resilient children.
